A Message from our Bishop's Warden,
AC Sanders III
24 February 2009
Hi All!
For those of you who missed our service Sunday, I need to update you on things. That was our last service in the theater. Jeff Ekery worked out an arrangement with Rabbi Bach at Temple Mount Sinai to use their chapel which can hold up to 100 folks. They have reached out to other churches in the past offering temporary quarters to Trinity Methodist and Church of the Nazarene. The Rabbi wants very much to establish an interfaith dialogue with Christian churches. They have also offered their fellowship hall for our use. For those of you who have not visited that facility, it is beautiful--a real church experience. They are being extremely gracious and welcoming to us.
They want us to be comfortable there. He feels they are called to reach out to displaced Episcopalians and offer support. They have invited us to share worship with them during our Holy Week which parallels their Passover. He wants his flock to learn about us and visa versa. They have an outdoor chapel which we can also use if we want as the weather permits. I feel this could be a tremendous opportunity for us educationally. After all, we all worship the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
They have thrown open their doors for us to celebrate Ash Wednesday tomorrow. Rev. Bob Gross will be able to provide that service for us at 7:30PM. We are the real deal, folks. We will provide a complete Lenton program this year with Holy Week celebrations. We will put out a Lenten and Holy Week schedule soon so each of you can mark your calender.
To get to the Temple:
Go down Mesa to Executive Center and continue south from Executive to the next traffic light which will be Brentwood. Turn east toward the mountain for a couple of blocks to North Stanton. Turn left and drive up Stanton until you get to the large Temple on your right. Drive just past the Temple until you see a driveway. Turn right up the driveway then veer to your left up the hill to the rear of the Temple building. The chapel will be on the left side at the far end of the parking lot. There are plenty of disabled parking spaces and even some very close on the opposide of the chapel. We will show you where they are this first time out.
Please come and share this Ash Wednesday service with your parish family. Please bring a friend with you. We are on full-speed-ahead mode. It is time to tout our warm and inclusive environment, toot our own whistle. We can take pride in our service to one another and the spirit with which we embrace what God has granted us.
